Attrition is such a nice thing as well as a beautiful thing.
Don't get me wrong, we love people. However we have learned and experienced through this beautiful process (especially a mutual separation or sabbatical) that new ideas, energy, flow, content and determination is fostered in such a situation. We all have to see people transition from our teams and families however true maturity reminds us that they never belonged to us in the first place. We were simply gifted with their treasures of time, talent and creativity.
In short, I believe the more we think of ourselves as stewards of one another talents, though thought at times, we will be able to better navigate the transition of a valued team member.
In closing attrition is a win win for the employee as well as the employer. While it is a given that good employee will find a good next opportunity, its equally important to know that a good employer will hire a good new employee as well.
Let it be know that through this process of attrition both the employer and employee should evolve, learn, grow and mature respectively.
Have you recently transitioned or experienced the transition of a team member?
What was your experience?
What made this transition more palatable than before?
